The import and export of these foods provide significant benefits to the country&#8217;s trade balance, establishing Spain as a European leader in production.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the last five years, the fruit and vegetable market in Spain has continued to grow steadily up to the present day. Specifically, since 2019, it <strong>has increased<\/strong> by 28% in volume and 51% in value.&#13;\n<div class=\"mt-1 flex gap-3 empty:hidden juice:-ml-3\">&#13;\n<div class=\"items-center justify-start rounded-xl p-1 flex\">&#13;\n<div class=\"flex items-center\"><button class=\"rounded-lg text-token-text-secondary hover:bg-token-main-surface-secondary\"><\/button><button class=\"rounded-lg text-token-text-secondary hover:bg-token-main-surface-secondary\"><\/button><button class=\"rounded-lg text-token-text-secondary hover:bg-token-main-surface-secondary\"><\/button>&#13;\n<div class=\"flex\"><\/div>&#13;\n<div class=\"flex items-center pb-0.5 juice:pb-0\">&#13;\n<div class=\"[&amp;_svg]:h-full [&amp;_svg]:w-full icon-md h-4 w-4\"><\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><div class=\"flex flex-grow flex-col max-w-full\">&#13;\n<div class=\"min-h-[20px] text-message flex flex-col items-start whitespace-pre-wrap break-words [.text-message+&amp;]:mt-5 juice:w-full juice:items-end overflow-x-auto gap-2\" dir=\"auto\" data-message-author-role=\"assistant\" data-message-id=\"64ddd01f-e699-41ef-98b6-c7669dd91ee5\">&#13;\n<div class=\"flex w-full flex-col gap-1 juice:empty:hidden juice:first:pt-[3px]\">&#13;\n<div class=\"markdown prose w-full break-words dark:prose-invert light\">&#13;\n&#13;\nAccording to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fepex.es\/datos-del-sector\/exportacion-importacion-espa&#xF1;ola-frutas-hortalizas\">FEPEX<\/a>, the Spanish Federation of Associations of Fruit and Vegetable Producers and Exporters, last year <strong>horticultural exports<\/strong> decreased by 6% in volume. However, on the other hand, there was a 6% increase in value compared to the previous year, resulting in an overall positive balance. In total, 5.2 million tons were generated, amounting to 7,883 million euros.&#13;\n&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<div class=\"mt-1 flex gap-3 empty:hidden juice:-ml-3\">&#13;\n<div class=\"items-center justify-start rounded-xl p-1 flex\">&#13;\n<div class=\"flex items-center\">&#13;\n&#13;\n\u00a0&#13;\n<div class=\"flex\"><\/div>&#13;\n<div class=\"flex items-center pb-0.5 juice:pb-0\"><\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><div class=\"flex flex-grow flex-col max-w-full\">&#13;\n<div class=\"min-h-[20px] text-message flex flex-col items-start whitespace-pre-wrap break-words [.text-message+&amp;]:mt-5 juice:w-full juice:items-end overflow-x-auto gap-2\" dir=\"auto\" data-message-author-role=\"assistant\" data-message-id=\"f77be4b1-de45-4c45-8c6d-676808612142\">&#13;\n<div class=\"flex w-full flex-col gap-1 juice:empty:hidden juice:first:pt-[3px]\">&#13;\n<div class=\"markdown prose w-full break-words dark:prose-invert light\">&#13;\n&#13;\nThe <strong>main products imported<\/strong> are potatoes, bananas, apples, oranges, and avocados. Moreover, since last January, it has expanded its quality certifications in this field, including new countries like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samalgeciras.com\/en\/sam-algeciras-expands-its-certifications-aimed-at-perishables-a-key-export-sector\/\">Ecuador<\/a>.&#13;\n&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The evolution of the fruit and vegetable sector<\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the improvement in overall figures, the effects of <strong>climate change<\/strong> &#8211; such as drought &#8211; are significantly impacting the production and quality of products. The so-called climate crisis has caused various inconveniences in the cultivation process, such as:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Diseases and pests:<\/strong> Temperature changes make food more susceptible to illness, leading to increased pesticide use.
