Following this trend, the port of Algeciras is reinforcing its commitment to the environment with the implementation of initiatives that reduce pollution and promote the use of clean technologies.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In its hinterland, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samalgeciras.com\/en\/\">SAM Algeciras,<\/a> a multimodal logistics platform, also reinforces this commitment with an <strong>environmental policy<\/strong> based on energy efficiency, the reduction of emissions and the optimisation of resources.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company, part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/grupo-alonso.com\/en\/\">Alonso Group<\/a> holding company, is certified as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samalgeciras.com\/en\/quality-and-environment\/#certificaciones\">distributor of organic products<\/a>, which guarantees that the products comply with the highest standards in production, preparation, packaging and sustainable marketing. In addition, <strong>SAM Algeciras<\/strong> has incorporated <strong>technological advances<\/strong> in its warehouses to improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact, thus optimising energy consumption and minimising its carbon footprint.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through these measures, both the port and its logistics environment are moving towards a <strong>more sustainable economic model<\/strong> over time.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Electrification of the docks<\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Algeciras enclave continues to consolidate its commitment to the electrification of docks with the implementation of the <strong>OPS (Onshore Power Supply) system<\/strong> in the <strong>Isla Verde Interior<\/strong> dock. To this end, it has allocated 3.4 million euros to the definition of the implementation project with the aim of <strong>connecting ships to the electricity grid<\/strong> while they are docked. An initiative that eliminates the need to use diesel generators.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This development will <strong>reduce CO2 emissions<\/strong>, improve air quality and reduce noise pollution. It is also part of the <strong>decarbonisation strategy<\/strong> for the maritime sector promoted by the <strong>European Union.<\/strong> With an execution period of ten months, this project reinforces the port&#8217;s commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spanish ports in favour of sustainability<\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spain has a <strong>key port network<\/strong> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samalgeciras.com\/en\/about-us\/\">international trade.<\/a> In addition to the port of Algeciras, other enclaves are adopting measures to reduce their environmental impact and improve their energy efficiency. For example, the <strong>port of Barcelona<\/strong> has set up an external technical sustainability office to coordinate and evaluate the implementation of its <strong>Positive Impact Sectoral Sustainability Plan.<\/strong> The aim of this action is to ensure that green strategies are effectively integrated throughout its operations.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For its part, the <strong>port of Valencia<\/strong> is moving ahead with an ambitious strategy to become a <strong>zero emissions port by 2030<\/strong>.
