Our participation in Fruit Attraction (Madrid) and Conxemar (Vigo) has enabled us to reconnect with two strategic sectors, the fruit and vegetable sector and the frozen seafood sector. These are two markets with a strong international presence and a shared need: reliable, flexible logistics capable of maintaining the cold chain throughout the entire process.
Fruit Attraction 2026 has concluded a record-breaking edition, bringing together more than 121,000 professionals from over 150 countries – a figure that underscores its international scope and the significance of the fruit and vegetable sector. Meanwhile, Conxemar attracted more than 31,000 visitors and 835 exhibitors from around 50 countries, reinforcing its status as an international hub for the frozen seafood industry. Both events provided an opportunity to showcase our platform’s operational capabilities and gain first-hand insight into the needs of importers, distributors, retailers and logistics operators.
Algeciras, a strategic hub for perishable goods
The growth in refrigerated freight traffic confirms the potential of our logistics hinterland. According to figures from the Algeciras Bay Port Authority (APBA), refrigerated freight traffic grew by 4 per cent between January and August 2026, with Costa Rica, Peru and Egypt as the main countries of origin. This activity reinforces the role of the port of Algeciras as a gateway and distribution hub for perishable goods bound for European markets.
From SAM Algeciras, a multimodal logistics hub, we contribute to this logistics chain by providing cold and frozen storage, goods handling, order fulfilment and freight consolidation, from a location connected to the main transport routes.
Flexibility and control of the cold chain
The discussions held during both trade fairs have confirmed the sector’s priorities: ensuring the cold chain, improving traceability, adapting to seasonal campaigns and fluctuations in volume, and optimising logistics times and costs. Our aim is to meet these needs through flexible operations tailored to each client. We coordinate warehousing and associated logistics services, facilitating the management of goods and their transit to their destination markets.
We rounded off our participation in Fruit Attraction and Conxemar on a positive note. We came away with new contacts, a broader understanding of market needs and new opportunities to continue positioning SAM Algeciras as a logistics partner specialising in temperature-controlled goods in southern Spain.
