In addition to increasing the competitiveness of its facilities by reducing customs procedures in time and number, certification as an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) adds an additional security guarantee to SAM Algeciras customers and suppliers.
For several months SAM Algeciras staff has been working on the implementation of all the necessary protocols and requirements to obtain certification as an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO), both in the area of customs simplification and in terms of security and protection.
It is a European certification, managed by the Spanish State Tax Administration Agency (AEAT), whose objective is to identify those logistics operators who are reliable and have a reliable track record in customs operations. In this way, those who are distinguished with the AEO status can benefit from advantages throughout the European Union in terms of customs simplifications and safety and security facilities.
Advantages for import and export
Acquiring AEO status has many positive implications since it allows to reduce the large number of customs procedures. This reduction in the number of procedures has two immediate effects that have a direct impact on the final customer: on the one hand, time decreases and on the other hand, preferential treatment is received in certain administrative processes.
In turn, the fact that a logistics operator is in possession of the certificate of AEO implies an additional guarantee for its customers, because to get it had to undergo a series of extremely rigorous audits. They verify that the company scrupulously complies with all safety protocols in each of the links in the logistics chain.
Comprehensive workers training
To achieve this certification, the logistics platform managed by Grupo Alonso is redoubling efforts both in terms of the adequacy of its facilities and in terms of staff training. Since it is an integral process of development, implementation, verification and internal audits, all workers are being involved through different information sessions such as the ones that will take place this week.
The purpose of these training actions is to make all personnel aware of the safety protocols to be observed in the different customs areas and provide them with the necessary tools to apply them effectively. The objective is that before the start of the summer season, it may already be operating under AEO certification.
